Massive Safety Recall Includes New Mercedes E-Class Coupe

Takata airbags have become a popular brand for almost every auto-industry giant, including Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Toyota, Volkswagen and more. Sadly though, it looks like Mercedes would have benefitted from manufacturing their own safety measures for their vehicles as 2016 and 2017 Takata airbags have been found with a fault that has caused 13 deaths and over 100 injuries.

While it seems the best measure is to follow the recall due to the externally manufactured part, for those with older Mercedes be sure to look into keeping your drive safe. We’d recommend looking into Steering and fresh Brakes to increase control on the road.

 

Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Daimler Van vehicles have been added to a list of new cars and trucks being sold with potentially defective airbags made by Takata Corp. 

A report released Wednesday by Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), who leads a Senate commerce committee, cites several makes and models that are equipped with part in question. 

Takata-made airbags are part of an unprecedented recall that spans 14 automakers and 22 brands, and includes some 34 million vehicles in the U.S. 

At the heart of the recall is an airbag inflator that can become explosive and send metal pieces flying through the cabin of the vehicle when it’s deployed.
