The Mercedes driver secured his 54th win in the F1 race when he led the race from start to finish. He began his momentuJm during the 32nd lap and from then on, led every lap. In the Chinese GP, Hamilton was able to reach Nelson Piquet for eight in the all-time record. The other driver who holds the same title for the Grand Slam is Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari with four. Hamilton’s triumph on Sunday is no easy track, the rain made it even more challenging for the driver. The race began on a wet but a fast drying track, each team starts on intermediate tires except for Carlos Sainz of Toro Rosso. During the race, Force India’s Sergio Perez collided with William’s Lance Stroll, leaving the Canadian rookie driver stuck in the gravel. This prompted Vettel to pitted for a dry rubber on the second lap. Both Mercedes drivers, Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas along with Verstappen, Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen leads the race. Also, during the race, Antonio Giovinazzi crashed in the final corner. At first, Verstappen seems the main challenge for Hamilton. He and Ricciardo changed into supersoft Pirellis. All other drivers also went for softs in a chance of going all the way throughout the race. However, the Dutchman drew back; Vettel overtook Raikkonen, his teammate during Lap 20. Half-way on the race, both Hamilton and Vettel battle it out in a neck breaking lead, one after the other. Unlike the previous race, Vettel pitted to change into soft tires before Hamilton. Sainz earned track as he made up for the accident during the first lap. He made it to 7th place, earning Toro Rosso rank with ‘best of the rest.’ Haas’s Kevin Magnussen finished 8th defeating Force India’s Perez and Esteban Ocon. Romain Grosjean manages to scrape through for the 11th place. Similarly, Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg had a tensed race after official gave him a 5s penalty for overtaking a virtual safety car and another 10s penalty for doing it again on the real one. Jolyon Palmer, his team mate finished two seconds just right behind his tail. China proved unlucky for Williams as well. Their team lost for 10th place, and then tied Felipe Massa in the seventh until finishing to 14th. The F1 race will now move to Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix next week.
